Hi there!
So you’re headed to Margao!
Also known as Madgaon.

And you’re arriving to Margao by bus…

Maybe you’re arriving from Palolem. You can get a bus from Palolem to Margao.

Or maybe you’re arriving from Panjim? You can get a bus from there too.

Or maybe you’re just flying into Goa?! You can get a bus from the Goa airport too. (Similar to Margao to the Goa airport.)
And you want to leave Margao immediately for another place in India by train.

So…
Is it easy to get to the Madgaon railway station?!
It can be a relatively simple process!
If you’re going in the opposite direction, from the train station to the bus station, see here for how to get to the Margao bus station!
Now…
How to get from Margao bus station to train station
- Walk
- Bus
- Rickshaw

Walk

To get from the bus station to the train station is around 3.5 to 4km (2 to 2.5 miles), so it might take around 50 minutes to walk.
Bus

If you don’t want to walk, then the next cheapest way to get to the Madgaon railway station is to go by bus to get there.
You can find a bus at the Margao bus station that will stop kind of near the train station.
More on this in a bit.
Rickshaw
You can also find rickshaw drivers in front of the Margao bus station that would be happy to take you to the train station.
Or…
Maybe none of the above?!
Are you arriving to Margao from further south?

This means that you may not have to take an extra bus to get to the train station.
For example, I took a bus from Palolem to Margao, and the bus got close enough to the train station (maybe a 5 minute walk) that I could have gotten off before the final stop (Margao bus station) in order to get to the train station if that’s where I was trying to go.
This means that it’s possible that you may only need to take one bus, and you can possibly go direct from Palolem to the Madgaon railway station.
You can follow along on Google Maps with your GPS locator to see how close the bus is getting to the train station, and you can also ask the bus worker about a stop near the railway station.
But if you miss the bus stop near the train station, no problem. It’s relatively simple to take a bus in Margao from the bus station to the train station.
If you’re arriving to Margao by bus from the north side, chances are the railway station bus stop won’t be on the route.
