Hi there!

So, can you buy food on trains in Thailand that’s good, or should you buy food ahead of time to bring on the train with you?!

Quick answer… maybe both!

Just in case.

After all, it would be really terrible to arrive to your next destination hungry.

You need your mind to be sharp as you navigate a new place! πŸ˜‰

Really…

There is a convenience store near the Bangkok train station where you can buy snacks and food that would be good for eating on the train.

Otherwise, you can find some opportunities to buy food once you’re on the train when you’re taking a long distance train in Thailand.

This is what I did in April 2019 on my train from Bangkok to Malaysia!

Menu

Shortly after I boarded the train, someone came around with a menu asking if I wanted to order food.

Cost of food

So each meal set for this menu cost 130 baht, which is like US$4.

Green curry had been my go-to on this trip to Bangkok, so I went with the usual – the green curry!

The food!

A little before the food came, they set up the table. (The table was a little dusty!)

Then they delivered the food to my seat. This was a couple hours into the train ride, around 5pm. (The train had a 3pm departure.)

It was good enough for me, and I didn’t get sick! πŸ˜‰

Snacks on the train

Later, there were also who came around selling local Thai snacks too.
