So you’re making it a day of forts in Jaipur!
And you want go from Amber Fort to Jaigarh Fort!
Well, you can get to Jaigarh Fort from Amber Fort by way of underground tunnel!
During the royal days, it seems that this was a secret tunnel!
This tunnel walk can be a part of a one day Jaipur itinerary that takes you to 3 forts in Jaipur, or part of a 3 day Jaipur itinerary where one of those days in a fort day!
I did this tunnel walk in 2018 and hopefully it’s still possible to walk through this tunnel today!
I knew about this tunnel before I went to Amber Fort, but the tunnel entrance I basically stumbled into. I almost missed it!
So now…
How to get from Amber Fort to Jaigarh Fort
If you’re looking to take the tunnel from fort to fort to imagine what it might have been like during the royal days, you’ll first head to Amber Fort.
Then after you’ve finished visiting Amber Palace that’s within the fort complex…
The BEST way to go to the next fort is obviously by tunnel!
Otherwise, if you head back down to the base of Amber Fort after your palace visit, you can find a rickshaw, and probably uber too, to take you to Jaigarh Fort.
But the more unique way of getting to the next fort is by walking through a tunnel!
The door to the tunnel
I think the sign is pretty easy to miss, so be on the lookout for it!
It’ll be towards the end of the walk through Amber Fort, after you have finished up exploring the palace.
Look for the door that leads to the tunnel.
Once you enter the door, there may be a sign in the form of a sheet of paper that says “Jaigarh” on it with an arrow pointing towards the stairs.
So you know you’re going the right way!
There are also a few security officers lined around here, so you can always ask them too.
You can only go from Amber TO Jaigarh by tunnel, you can’t go in the opposite direction from Jaigarh to Amber.
Once you enter, there is no going back!
Okay, you can probably turn around if you want.
It’s not too long of a tunnel, and soon you’ll start to see daylight!
You’re basically walking between fort walls, and there’s no way out except to walk back through the tunnels, or until you reach the other end of it… which will be near Jaigarh Fort!
This path again isn’t too long, maybe around a 10 minute walk.
Walking this path along the fort walls, you will soon come across stairs. Once you take the stairs, you’ll end up on a road.
From here, it’s a bit more walking to get to Jaigarh Fort.
