So in Gokarna, doing a “beach trek” is a thing.
There are a number of beaches you can walk between, and that includes between…
I walked from Kudle Beach to Om Beach as part of a Gokarna beach trek with 5 Gokarna beaches:
- Arrive at Kudle Beach (#1)
- Walk across Kudle Beach
- Walk from Kudle Beach to Om Beach
- Walk across Om Beach (#2)
- Walk from Om Beach to Half Moon Beach
- Walk across Half Moon Beach (#3)
- Walk from Half Moon Beach to Paradise Beach
- Walk across Paradise Beach (#4)
- Walk from Paradise Beach to Belekan Beach
- Arrive at Belekan Beach (#5)
The part from Kudle Beach to Om Beach (or Om Beach to Kudle Beach) will probably take around 30 minutes, not including any rest time or stop for viewpoints along the way!
How to go from Kudle Beach to Om Beach?!
Kudle Beach to Om Beach trail map directions
First, if you’re planning on doing any part of the Gokarna beach trek, downloading the app called maps.me will be helpful!
Then once you have the app on your phone, you can download the map called “Karnataka North” in India.
Having the offline map of the Gokarna area means that you don’t need to have data when doing the trek.
You will just want to have your phone’s GPS locator on.
And then, you can basically refer to the offline map of Gokarna every now and then to check that you’re going in the right direction!
In the case of Kudle Beach to Om Beach, you’ll be mostly following the brown dotted line on the map.
There might be some areas not shown on the map that have a short path with a viewpoint along the way.
You can stop to check those out too!
But in general, the maps.me is great for giving the general path to follow for any sections along the Gokarna beach trek.
Getting to Kudle Beach
So Kudle Beach is one of the beaches in Gokarna that’s accessible by rickshaw.
Or it gets close enough to the beach anyway.
From the drop-off point that will be the start of a trail to the beach of sorts.
So you can be dropped off at the start of this trail.
Or if you’re staying at a nearby place, like Zostel Gokarna or Hostelavie Gokarna, it’ll be a walk of about 10-15 minutes to get to the start of the beach path.
Then once you’re on the trail, it’ll be about a 5 minute walk to get down to Kudle Beach.
You can consider this the first part of your beach trek, as it kind of feels like you’re on a hiking trail!
And then you’ll see Kudle Beach!
So you can spend some time at Kudle Beach.
And then once you’re ready to continue the beach trek…
Walk across Kudle Beach
Maybe it will take 10 minutes
It’s at the other end that you’ll find the path to Om Beach.
Walking from one end of Kudle Beach to the other is about a 10 minute walk.
The “trek” from Kudle Beach to Om Beach
Maybe it will take 30 minutes
So once you’ve arrived at the end of Kudle Beach…
You’ll see some stairs.
And taking these stairs will take you towards Om Beach.
There will be a short path…
And then this will bring you out into the open where you might see some rickshaws, and you’ll find a road.
From here, you basically almost directly cross the road and keep walking.
So you don’t walk down the main road.
Instead, it can seem like you’re walking onto an area with no clear trail… although if you look for it carefully, it’s there!
This is one spot where referring to your offline map can help to give you confidence that you’re going in the right direction!
You’ll also see the ocean off to the side when you’re in this area!
As you keep walking, there’s also an area that can make for a nice viewpoint.
If you’re looking for a little bit of a rest, this might be a place to stop too.
So continuing on…
In a short time, you’ll then come to a point in which you’ll be able to spot a more obvious trail.
This will take you on a path along some trees.
And then soon, you’ll come across some stairs that lead down.
This means that you’re almost there!
Because once you get to the bottom of these stairs…
You will find the stairs that lead directly to Om Beach!
And then you will take these stairs…
Maybe meet some cows along the way that are also heading to Om Beach.
Arrive at Om Beach!
Where to next after Om Beach?!
There are rickshaws at the top of the stairs that lead to Om Beach.
You’ll see them as you are coming from Kudle Beach.
You can continue on for more of the Gokarna beach trek!
And from Om Beach, off to Half Moon Beach you go!
And that’s a bit about one part of the Gokarna beach trek!
