Hi there!
Orange overnight oats can be easy to make!
They can be easy to adapt to your personal taste too.
And, there are a number of different fruit combinations that work well with orange!
I used frozen fruit or canned fruit for most (all?) of these, because that just seems easier!
Of course, you can go with fresh fruit too.
For the orange goodness, these overnight oats are made with orange juice and with canned mandarin oranges in them.
I also use coconut milk for these overnight oats which makes them all a form of coconut orange overnight oats, but you can use regular milk or almond milk too. (Kerala literally means “land of coconuts”!)
You can also use plain yogurt or vanilla yogurt for any of these depending on your desire for sweetness, or go vegan and make it completely without yogurt to make it dairy-free.
If you taste the oatmeal in the morning and there’s not enough sweetness or there’s too much sweetness, you can adjust at that time too.
For more sweetness you can mix in extra of any ingredients, or add in honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar… or coconut sugar!
The sweetness from the recipes below mainly comes from the banana, vanilla yogurt, and juice.
For less sweetness, you can mix in some plain Greek yogurt.
For seasonal overnight oats, see winter overnight oats, fall overnight oats, cinnamon overnight oats.
So…
What are the best fruits to go with orange overnight oats?!
All of these oatmeal recipes are packed FULL of nutrients!
Have one for every day of the week – orange only, strawberry, raspberry, pineapple, pomegranate, cranberry, grapefruit – and you have yourself a variety of health benefits every day at breakfast alone!
There are a number of other fruits that can go well with orange too – maybe also try with blueberries, peaches, mango, or cherries?!
How to make your perfect orange overnight oats:
- Put all the ingredients into a jar or container
- MIX!
- Place in fridge overnight or for a few hours
- ENJOY!
How much fruit?
You may consider adjusting the fruit to be either 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup depending on how fruity you want it to be, and which fruit flavor you want to be more dominant.
How much coconut milk?
Same with the coconut milk – you can try 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup whether you want a stronger coconut taste, and you can also slightly reduce (or remove) the orange juice.
If you’re not sure, I would say start with 1/4 cup coconut milk and 1/4 cup orange juice, though.
As far as this volume of liquid affecting the consistency one way or another, I don’t find there to be too much of a difference.
The bigger problem might be an overflow of the mason jar! 😉
So depending on how much fruit, juice, and coconut milk you’re putting in, you might be better off adding in the ingredients a little at a time.
